Epstein Billboard Banned!?! The Untold TRUTH Behind STEALTH’S Famous Billboard
Marketing has changed forever.
With Trump’s win in 2016, hate him or love him, he’s changed the marketing game forever.
He’s shown that media (both social and traditional) can be gained today for free through strategically performing controversial, news-worthy comments and methods.
Marketers need to push the envelope now, more than ever, in order to stand out and be heard. They need to be more different, get people talking and be more creative than ever.
However, this is a very difficult thing to do correctly so it needs to be done with care.
STEALTH has done many controversial marketing things over the years. One that comes to mind is the Mannequin billboard we did for Cherry Insurance.
In 2016, we hung a mannequin in a construction outfit on a billboard to make it look like the guy installing the billboard was hanging on for his life. (see below). One thing we didn’t take into account of is how creepy it would look at night but, regardless, it ended up making the news and people loved it!
That’s our point. It’s important to be brave with your marketing and we wanted to show our past, current and future clients how it’s done and that we’re willing to do it ourselves too.
The Epstein Billboard has gotten us free attention from all the news outlets across the province and caused heated debates all over the internet and the world.
And it’s just…. a billboard with some text.
We know, Epstein is the ultimate controversial figure but the interesting thing is… it’s the first thing we’ve seen in years that brings both sides of the political aisle together.
Whatever your political leanings, both Liberals and Conservatives both agree Epstein’s suicide was fishy (see popular meme below).
Which is fantastic! At last something that brings everyone together. We needed this.
HOW DID THE EPSTEIN BILLBOARD IN SASKATOON ARISE?
On November 15, 2019, the “Epstein Did Not Kill Himself” meme was starting to lose steam.
That would be bad for a number of reasons but mainly, the people responsible would get off the hook and Epstein’s victims would not see justice.
NEVER FORGET Epstein’s Victims https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/17/nyregion/jeffrey-epstein-lawsuits-victims.html
Letting the Epstein meme die is essentially helping him. We couldn’t do that.
If you don’t know how crazy the circumstances were with Epstein’s death, look into it.
This will explain the meme at least for people interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DX41VhXXaQ
We had a crazy idea for a billboard ad and posted on a website called Imgur on November 15th, 2019 as a joke (it’s similar to reddit).
To our surprise, it got
– Over 150,000 views,
– Nearly 10,000 likes and
– was featured as the 4th best new meme for the entire year of 2019 on Imgur’s 2019 Year in Review:

Our reaction: “Wow, whelp… now we actually have to do this”…
And we did! Go check it out by Lawson Mall today!
(UPDATE February 1, 2020): WOW, IT WORKED!
We made the news for free and, as expected, the billboard got banned! Talk about free publicity! We’ll be using this in our marketing for years to come, thanks Global.
Keep on the look out for the next billboard we replace it with…

Now, most people LOVE it and those are our kind of people. Here are just a few posts from Facebook, Instagram and even our website forms with people raving about the billboard. You guys get it and you rock.
However, there are those so-called “marketing experts” who “be hating” on our billboard online but that’s okay too!
We love you all and thank you for giving our billboard so much attention.
Plus, it’s helping the Epstein Meme live on! It’s for a good cause people!
Gary Vee has some great thoughts on the haters for all you budding entrepreneurs out there.
Remember, more than ever today, “the thicker your skin, the higher you’ll go”.
Here’s a response the biggest criticisms of the Epstein Billboard:
1. “Too much text, way too much for a billboard. Not enough time to read it”
We would typically agree with this. However, placement is everything when it comes to billboards and this is at 3 stop lights in Lawson. More than enough time to read it.
See video here: https://i.imgur.com/b3TJk64.mp4
2. “Why would you associate your brand with such a bad guy”
Listen. Being too careful with “your brand” will keep you invisible. Yes, he was an awful guy but that’s the point. Keeping the “Epstein Did Not Kill Himself” meme alive and well so people continue to talk about it, get informed and continue to question it… is important.
We’re simply doing our part so that people don’t forget about his crimes, the circumstances of his suspicious death and the lives of the victims he’s ruined/affected. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/17/nyregion/jeffrey-epstein-lawsuits-victims.html
What does that make the haters of this billboard? Would they rather bury how bad a guy Epstein was so the general public forget about him? I would hope not.
Plus, Joe Rogan, Ricky Gervais and a million other prominent people on both sides of the political aisle constantly post Epstein Did Not Kill Himself memes. If it’s good enough for their brands, it’s good enough for ours.
3. “Is this offensive?”
No, it isn’t. Well, it shouldn’t be. Who would it be offensive to? Epstein?
It’s a hidden (stealthy) message in the text of a billboard and is meant to be funny. Children wouldn’t get it so I’m not sure who this would offend?
This should bring both sides of the political aisle together for a laugh. Not offend. Lighten up guys!
Plus, Ricky Gervais’ monologue at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards just a few weeks back had a way more intense “Epstein” joke than this.
If Ricky Gervais can joke about it in front of millions at the Golden Globes, it’s probably fair game for a billboard.
4. “Won’t this bring bad attention too?”
Yes. And that’s okay! Having an emotional reaction (positive or negative) will cement the STEALTH brand in their minds for years to come. We always strive to do world-class creative work that gets seen, so if you own a business and are tired of being invisible, send us a message. We can help.
Now, even if they’re still hatin, simply ask them to list all the marketing agencies in Saskatchewan. I can guarantee, if they had any reaction to our Epstein billboard (either positive or negative), one of them that they list, will be STEALTH.
Are you smart enough to get it?
I’m sure you are.
We have BIG things planned this year so make sure you SUBSCRIBE to our STEALTH YouTube channel (check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7w5rmpHK8edzuiwWwimWWw?sub_confirmation=1) to follow our crazy antics in the future.
