Marketing has changed forever.
With Trump’s win in 2016, hate him or love him, he’s changed the marketing game forever.
He’s shown that media (both social and traditional) can be gained today for free through strategically performing controversial, news-worthy comments and methods.
Marketers need to push the envelope now, more than ever, in order to stand out and be heard. They need to be more different, get people talking and be more creative than ever.
However, this is a very difficult thing to do correctly so it needs to be done with care.
STEALTH has done many controversial marketing
things over the years. One that comes to mind is the Mannequin billboard we did for Cherry Insurance.
In 2016, we hung a mannequin in a construction outfit on a billboard to make it look like the guy installing the billboard was hanging on for his life. (see below). One thing we didn’t take into account of is how creepy it would look at night but, regardless, it ended up making the news and people loved it!
Plus, Ricky Gervais’ monologue at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards just a few weeks back had a way more intense “Epstein” joke than this.
