If you are a Saskatoon or Regina designer, it may just be your favourite time of year. The Design Council of Saskatchewan are the masterminds behind this biennial event, with this year’s festivities kicking off tomorrow.
The week is jam-packed full of events in both Regina and Saskatoon, including keynote speakers, lunch and learns and movie nights, with many featuring free entry to the event.
A highlight of the week is the Speaker Series, which presents industry experts Omar Gandhi (Architect) , Jason Kasper (Interior Designer), and Robin Mazumder (Landscape Architecture).
Gahndi will only be speaking in Saskatoon, but Kasper and Mazumder have engagements in both Regina and Saskatoon during the week.
Design Week culminates in the presentation of the Premier’s Awards which recognizes projects from architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, planning, interior design, graphic design and integrated design (represented by significant involvement of three or more member associations through the project).
The projects under consideration will be on display during the week in Saskatoon.
For designers, this is an excellent opportunity to explore and learn about other aspects and areas of design that they may not be exposed to on a regular basis. For the rest of us, it’s an opportunity to expand their knowledge about the world of design and see all of the cool and innovative projects that are being created by leaders in the Canadian design industry.
