On Sunday May 27th, people will gather together for a common purpose. They will spend a portion of the day doing something that most of them love, some of them hate, and some of them were roped into by an overconfident friend or coworker.
Yes, I’m talking about the Saskatchewan Marathon.
The marathon is a yearly occurrence which is the epitome of hard work for many athletes and a few “I could do that” attitudes from those of us who think running is…how do you say, best saved for a zombie apocalypse.
Running a business is like running a marathon. If you don’t start by running shorter distances and work your way up to longer ones, you will be unprepared for the extreme distance of a 42.2km marathon. Likewise, in business, if you try and start up a world-wide corporation without building a solid action plan, the chances of success are much lower. Running a marathon requires perseverance, because eventually everyone hits the “runner’s wall” and you need to persevere to push past it and keep running. In business, you will hit bumps along the way, but instead of giving up you must endure the struggle and continue fighting back.
ALTHOUGH MACKELMORE LOOKS DOPE, HE PROBABLY WOULDN’T WANT TO RUN A MARATHON IN THIS GET UP.
Nobody runs a marathon in denim jeans and a floor length fur coat (or at least nobody should) because it hinders your ability to run properly.
